Shoppers scatter as 2m lizard climbs supermarket shelf

Shoppers in Thailand have been shocked to see a huge lizard climbing the shelves at a supermarket.

As seen in the video above, the large two-metre Asian water monitor can be seen climbing up a shelf, knocking groceries off as it goes up.

Staff and customers at the Bangkok store scattered as it rummaged through the store looking for food.

The lizard eventually took a rest at the top of the shelf, before wildlife experts were called in.

The experts captured the lizard to take it back into the wild.
